Sharp eyes combed through the grass, searching for anything moving. The long grass twitched ever so slightly, and the hawk narrowed his pale, copper eyes, the pupil shrinking just a bit. There was a cool wind today, a sign of good weather, and the unnatural way in which the grass had moved was a sure sign of prey. It'd been a while since he'd been able to get into the peace and quiet of things, and the country suited him well. How couldn't it? Raptors were made for it, not for the cities of those humans. Humans with their two legs, flat faces, and odd way of talking. Angling himself again, he began to point his head downwards, aiming towards the grass. Slowly, with the wind whistling through his flight feathers, he began to descend headfirst. The male's wings slowly folded to his side, then just as he snapped the mouse up into the air he gave a tremendous flap and rose again to the sky. Caius caught a warmer current and sailed gently on it, letting the morning sun fall across his back as he soared through the air to a small grove of trees in the distance. The patch of dark green upon brown neared, and he dropped onto a branch atop a strong, old tree that had been there before he'd been born, and many other before him. The grove was quiet, and he feasted quickly on the small field mouse. Sunlight fell across the forest floor, and he kept his eye on it. 272, open, :3 |
