Slowly lumbering away from the hole in the earth, Aleksandr grumbled about a meal. It was quite a normal, pleasing day. The grass was not as dry as earlier in the season and small wisps of clouds drifted along the sky. The only slightly worrying thought was the heat of the sun, but even that was not as strong as it used to be. It was because of this gracious break from the heat that Aleksandr decided it was an ideal time to find something to eat.
While old for his age, Aleksandr certainly did not like being lazy, even if he did like relaxing. He believed in hard work and was true to his word. That being, though, he never wandered far from the sett and only aimed to scrounge around for a few insects or some tasty earthworms. If he couldn't find those, the grass would do just fine. And so being, Aleksandr made his way through the grass, parting the stalks and leaving a trail as he went.
A small hum of an indescribable tune rumbled deep in his throat as he made way. He quickly found an indention in the earth, obviously some place he had dug before. He doubted that there would be anything there, but nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt to check. Aleksandr didn't like wasting things after all. Sliding a bit down into the ground, the old mammal began to dutifully dig up the ground in search for a meal.

It hadn't been long since Arora had arrived on the island, a stowaway on one of the ships that comes to the island for whatever reason they may have. It had actually been surprisingly easy for the big cat to slip aboard while they were shifting things around and the short trip over to the island had been present, if a bit warm for her tastes.
Once arriving at the small private levy, the boat apparently having been a private craft due to the lack of any infrastructure nearby, She had decided that the best idea would probably be to head inland. Not that there was any problem with being near the beach mind you, but there didn't seem to be much going on near the estate she had landed at and really, standing around where things are boring just isn't her style.
The field itself doesn't really seem to be all that interesting, however it doesn't take her long to come across one of the local residents, stopping a short ways out of view and twitching her ears at the noise of his digging. Slowing her pace somewhat, Arora flips her tail into the air so it can be seen (not that the grass covers that much of her anyways) and begins to approach the digging sounds in front of her, saying "Hello? Do you know this area, by chance?"

Somewhere in the back of his mind, a little voice told Aleksandr how tedious his digging was. It was probably the more common sense area, after all, what animal in their right mind would go to a place where their brethren were just massacred? Crazy prey, he thought bemusedly to himself. Shaking his head, Aleksandr paused in his digging before shuffling over to the other side of the dent. Lifting his paw, he began to dig around again, occasionally burying his nose amongst the dirt and blades of grass to see if he could smell anything recent. Luck didn't seem to be on his side though.
Pausing in his work, Aleksandr took a few steps back and leaned back on his haunches before he caught a flash of white in the distance. He made a deep rumble of surprise and lifted himself to his paws, head dangerously swinging back and forth. Inwardly, the old coot scolded himself for not being more careful. At least the creature, whatever it was, seemed to have come from the direction opposite of the sett. The figure walked closer, slowing a bit, not that Aleksandr really paid any attention to that little fact. It was a very large mammal, taller than he and much more... well, fluffy seemed to fit. Bright green eyes peered back at him, and he flattened his ears, unsure about the new development.
However, as the creature--female--spoke, Aleksandr relaxed a bit. While still wary, the badger stopped swinging his head and peered back at her. He narrowed his eyes in slight suspicion, but cautiously answered nonetheless. "Yes, I do know this area." Straight forward was usually best. She didn't seem to have any malicious intent, but one could never be too sure. As an afterthought, Aleksandr quickly added, "Why do you ask?"

A moment after she greets the other creature he shows his face and Arora pauses, blinking in surprise. Having never met a badge before she isn't quite sure what he is, wondering if he's actually some sort of mutant skunk. And if he was a skunk, it occurs to her that she might not want to get too close to him because they hadn't met before.
Nodding slightly to herself Arora sits down about teen feet from Aleksander inspecting him a little closer as she says "Well, I just arrived here and I don't. I was sleeping on a boat in the marina, and when I woke up the humans that owned the boat had driven it halfway here. They were understnadably surprised when I got off the boat behind them." Tilting her head slightly Arora notices the way Aleksandr is watching her and twitches her ears at the hostility. Not many creatures that know her tend to be hostile towards her, though considering she just arrived none of them know her yet so it's somewhat less surprising. "Excuse me, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Arora. If you don't mind, who are you?"

Aleksandr cautiously narrowed his eyes, but made no further comment as the white creature sat down a little ways from his digging hole. With an ear perked up, he careful listened to her words. "Well, I just arrived here and I don't." He huffed a bit in annoyance, more so to himself though. That itself was obvious, he didn't think he ever saw such a white animal! A creature like that surely would have stood out and quickly would have made a meal for the large mammals. He himself would have had to watch out, but few predators messed with a badger, let alone the whole group. "I was sleeping on a boat in the marina, and when I woke up the humans that owned the boat had driven it halfway here. They were understandable surprised when I got off the boat behind them."
To this, he nodded, that made sense as well. So far, this unknown creature had not done anything to him either, and she seemed honest. She was okay, for now. "Excuse me," she said, causing Aleksandr to grunt in response after breaking away from his thoughts, "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Arora. If you don't mind, who are you?" To this, Aleksandr lifted his head. Unknown, perhaps, but at least she was polite! This he could deal with. Proudly, he said, "The name is Aleksandr, and it sounds like you've had quite the adventure. I don't suppose you're looking to head toward the city then--unless you're looking to stay."
