[bg=4f394d][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true] The hazy sun stood above her, beating its rays down on the park. It would've been a beautiful day if not for the blistering heat. Cheshire watched as the gentle hums of the human's machine interrupted what tranquility the park had. The humans on them didn't look very satisfied; beads of sweat rolled down their fur-less skins and their smells drifted over her like a smog.
Her eyes drifted over to the moist dirt before her and perked her ears towards where she heard a croak ring out. Her stomach growled slightly at the thought of eating. Frog wasn't French gourmet, but it would do. Warily the she-cat stood up, crouching. Her movements were precise, each step silent. Another croak sounded out - this time to her right. The cattails blocked her view, but she would easily locate it by ear.
When she was finally in the range of her prey, she leaped - leaving no chance for escaped. Cheshire nearly yelped in surprise as her paws hit mud, but luckily it hit the frog, too. She watched victoriously as the creature struggled feebly under her paw. Grinning gleefully, she brought her head closer for observation. Cheshire jumped in surprised when the frog suddenly struck, slapping her with one of its hind legs. Surprised, she reeled back and sputtered. The frog immediately fled and she was left with mud on her face. The she-cat hissed in annoyance. Why can't prey just be easier to catch?

Even with the rains, it has still been quite hot outside for the past few days since Arora arrived on the island. Most of the other animals were trying to keep cool by hiding underground or keeping to the shade under trees or even moving into the houses the humans keep in their city, however for this particular cat, none of those options were particularly attractive. No, for Arora there was only one option for when it became hot enough to bake the cars to the street and that... is to go for a swim.
It was during one of the aforementioned swims that Arora notices she's not alone in the park, Ears twitching to face the bank of the lake she is floating on as she turns her head just in time to see Cheshire land on the frog and get kicked in the face. Chuckling quietly, Arora watches the frog swimming rapidly away as Cheshire sputters and then laughs at the expression on the other cat's face. Rolling herself over, Arora paddles lazily closer to the bank, stopping about twenty feet out and addressing Cheshire. "Not having much luck today, mate? 'Fraid I cant offer much advice, I don't really hunt the little creatures around here."

[bg=4f394d][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true] Cheshire grimaced, wiping the dirt off her face. It would take a while to clean her fur. She turned at the sound of splashing water. Her eyes widen in surprise - a cat, in the water? She gazed at the stranger crossly; was she insane? The stranger comes closer. She didn't sound very ill. Reluctantly the she-cat indulged in the art of conversation - something that she didn't do very often.
"I guess not." She replied in a curt, polite tone. She chuckled a little, "That's quite alright - wasn't really expecting any."
She padded over to where the cleaner water was, wiping the grime off her face while they talked. Her whiskers twitched slightly as she caught sight of her prey out of the corner of her eye. She'd let it get away this time. Cheshire's eyes flickered over to the other cat briefly before she continued washing her face. Her faced twisted into a crooked grin out of habit, "So what brings you here, stranger? I'm Cheshire."

"Arora. And as I assume you can see, I am swimming." As she speaks Arora moves closer to the shore, digging her claws into the silty bank when she reaches it and hauling herself out of the water. "I know most think me strange, but I like swimming. It's both restful and, in temperatures like this, a good way to keep cool. Rain be damned, the temperature is still higher than I like."
As she reaches the dry part of the land Arora shakers the water out of her fur, having courteously gotten out just far enough away from Cheshire to avoid getting her wet in the process. The looking like someone had shocked her, Arora flops into the dry grass and rolls over, wiggling on the ground in an attempt to get as much moisture out of her fur as she can. "This is a nice place, isn't it? Though I've noticed all of the other animals are so small, I hope there's prey big enough somewhere around here."
Ooc/ 170. lol.

[bg=4f394d][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true] She only nodded silently at the she-cat's words. After all, how can she judge her when she didn't even know how to swim? She backed away a little and Arora hauled herself over into the dirt. Cheshire watched incredulously as she shook the water of her fur and continued to roll around the grass. Her guy twisted at the sight of a wet cat, so unusual. She felt like she'd be embarrassed if she did that.
Eyebrows raised, she warily drew closer to Arora, "Agreed. The rain just makes the air so thick." The thought of the park being a nice place made her grimace. Sure, it was pretty enough but sometimes the humans spoiled it. Her grin only grew as she replied, sarcasm practically dripping of her voice, "Yes, because it's so nice with the constant hum of human contraptions and their little kits screaming at the hottest of days." She shrugged, trying to be nonchalant at Arora's unnatural movements, "But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Arora can only smile at the hesitation the other cat is displaying, and at the expression on her face that says she's not at all comfortable with what Arora is doing. Of course, she's not sure why the other is so distasteful of it, many of their wild cousins are water loving and it's not much surprise that Arora is as well. She also seems to be in no way uneasy wiggling around the the slightly crunchy grass, enjoying the feeling against her fur as a nice contrast to the city she had been living in for the last few years.
As Cheshire begins to draw closer, Arora stops wiggling around and looks up at her, front feet held about six inches over her chest and back legs kicked out in a long stretch. "Well, I've lived in a city for the last few years so I am somewhat acclimatized to it. Not that I dispute what you say, their vehicles stink and the kits are so noisy... but they tend to leave me alone for the most parts, their parents don't seem to like them near me. Not sure why because I've never hurt one, but eh. Trying to understand what they do is a losing battle I think. And, I was referring to the park. If they do one thing well, it's keep the underbrush in check. Such a hassle to get all of the stuff out of my fur."
Ooc/ What, you've never seen a cat waller before? Mine do it all the time. XP WC:242

[bg=4f394d][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true] Cheshire tried to hide her uneasiness of the other cat's squirming, but it was pretty hard to hide. She fidgeted around, her tail flicking from left to right. The she-cat drew her eyes away sheepishly after catching herself staring. Her ears flickered a little as her new friend told her life story. She chuckled at the thought of terrorizing human kits.
For a moment she took time to think about her answer, "I can't say the same," She said with an exasperated sigh, "Maybe I'm in the wrong part of town, but the kits always seem to try and catch me. Keep me as another pet or something."
Her face scrunched up at the thought of living inside a home. Trapped inside all day with nothing to do - the thought of eating bland pet food? She didn't understand pets at all. She liked the fresh air and the taste of fresh kill better. "Besides, I'd rather jump into the water then live with humans and their strange ways."
