Name: Kiev Gender: Male Age: 2 years, 4 months Species: Icelandic Sheepdog
Appearance: Kiev is a rather lean canine and looks more like a Collie than an Icelandic Sheepdog. He has long muscled legs, strong hind legs, and large paws which enables him to give fast starts from a halt. His face is compact with a narrow muzzle and a rounded forehead. Kiev's eyes are dark brown and almond-shaped with seemingly noticeable brows so he's easy to give expression. His nose is large, black, and at a healthy wetness while his mouth holds a red-pink tongue with sharp glistening, white teeth coming together in a scissor bite. Kiev's ears are floppy, yet perked like a Border Collie which is unlike many of his breed though, they too have soft round tips.
His body from the side is rectangular with a level back and broad loins. Kiev's neck is moderately long and muscular with strong shoulder muscles. His chest is deep and equal to the length of his forelegs. Kiev's forelegs are straight and parallel with a set of dewclaws. However, unlike many breeds, Kiev is a good representative of the Icelandic Sheepdog to have double dewclaws on the hind-legs. Natural to his breed, his tail is curled over his hindquarters.
As for color, his coat is snow white with an overlay of orange. His face almost looks masked with a orange-covered back. The color runs down his legs and fades into a yellow and then into white. Under the sun against the shadows, his coat can look almost sun-burnt which gives him a nice golden look. Like most dogs, Kiev has a double coat which is thick and extremely weatherproof so he's good for all sorts of temperatures. His undercoat is thick and soft while his outer coat is coarse and of medium length. However, some can say his fur seems wispy and fluffy in some areas such as his ears and tail. Kiev's gait is smooth with an even center of balance. Like all herding dogs, he displays endurance and agility and excellent driving action. When trotting, his head is usually held level to his body while his legs seem snappy as if in a hurry. He easily covers ground effortlessly and quickly. Overall, Kiev is a lean, strong, and fast canine.
Personality: The thing Kiev is best known for is his thievery acts. Although playful and headlong, he is very curious about the world around him and the things in it. He is the type of character that likes to make the unknown know, the unconscious conscious, the hidden unhidden. Kiev is not like a detective and doesn't go digging his nose in businesses, but rather he digs them in the ground in search of objects and trinkets. One could say he simply wants to learn more, which he does, but his main concern is what rather than why or how.
His particular trait makes him a distracted dog and therefore doesn't really think fast when he gets caught in the act of his stealing. To make up for this, Kiev is well aware of his strategy before hand, thus making him a sneaky character and hard to catch. Though caught, Kiev is unafraid of many things due to his breed's nature which is armed with loud barks. He's quick on his paws so he gets in and out like a speed demon. However, Kiev is still young and acts like a pup a lot of his time. He's well alert of his surroundings and is easy to greet newcomers with an enthusiastic welcome. Thus, making him a great friend to have around. He doesn't dwell on the past or on emotions much and focuses on the present and his own happiness.
Some might think he is a little rowdy, but really, he's just enthusiastic. He likes his playtime and is quite cheerful and friendly around friend or strangers. When it comes to foes, he's a little off put, but he's slow to anger, if angry at all. When it comes to distractions, Kiev is one and is the prey of one. His talkative nature is good for distractions, however, he himself can easily be caught up in a distraction. All in all, Kiev can be seen as an energetic, confident, lively dog with a curious passion for his world.
History: Kiev came into this world like many other dogs with owners; he was bred out and adopted. He was born in the Iceland country and lived their with his few siblings and mother. When he was weaned, Kiev had been adopted out by a kind family and taken home. Soon enough, they had moved to a new place, a place that was not the country, Bonum Vitae. Everywhere there were tall buildings and busy movement, at least, it seemed that way. It was here his curiosity of his world was peaked and questions were raised. He liked to wonder about his world. How big was it? Who was in it? What was in it?
However, months after the change in scenery, Kiev was beginning to tire of the closed spaces and the tall buildings. He had greatly missed the outdoors and the fun things he had done and interesting things he had found. Yet, at the same time, Kiev loved his humans. He loved playing with the “pups”, the daily walks, the training, he loved it all and he didn't want to give that up. The moment of thinking of escaping had passed.
Unfortunately, he didn't have to escape. In the large city, Kiev's instincts had begun acting up and he was getting restless, even with daily exercises. Kiev liked his problem solving tricks, but they just weren't enough. True to his breed, Kiev's mental capacity was high and he was an amazing problem solver. Although it took time, he knew how to help himself when he was alone and he quickly grew smart to know where his food was, how to get it, where he was, and how to get out. This created problems for the family, and eventually, Kiev was put out for adoption.
Nobody wanted a canine who could escape and steal food whenever they pleased though. Kiev was never adopted and after awhile his family got restless. They didn't want to put him in a shelter where he might have been killed. Kiev just had issues, and they didn't want to have his death over their head. So, maybe they thought he would be better on his own, and that's what they did. Kiev had been taken out one day to the less crowded alleys of Lower Portu and had been left on the road, abandoned.
At first, Kiev was upset and saddened. However, these emotions were quickly ignored as he got used to the new situation. He finally got some free space and time alone and he could explore the world like he wanted to with no one to hold him back. Although he would miss his humans, he would find others on his travels, this he knew, but he also knew to be careful. It is now that Kiev travels around from place to place in exploration on his own, searching for something to please his curiosity, and maybe a few companions along the way.
