[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] Rules s.o.w.k is a one-account-per-character forum. this means that you may only have one character on each account ( so if you have two characters, you need two accounts ). as a result, we ask that you sign up with your character's name. an ooc account is optional. as you may have seen, some of our members have ooc accounts ( whether so they can better keep track of characters or have a main account to refer to with pms, etc. ). you do not have to make one, nor is it encouraged or discouraged. there is no limit to how many characters you can have. you can have one character or you can have fifteen. it doesn't matter to us, just keep them all active. when you make a new character, please also be sure to let us know who is roleplaying him or her by putting your chatbox / ooc name ( this should be the same so we know who you are ) in your "personal text" area of your profile, even if your ooc name is your character name. please try to keep numbers out of names. we don't really mind them in your username, but please not in your display name. also do not worry about capitalizing your name. once your account is decided, depending on your character or if it is an ooc account, your account will be put into a group and your name will automatically be capitalized. your character can be a pet. this means you can control your character's owner in your posts. however, the human cannot actually be a character of their own. follow proboard's terms of service. this means you must be thirteen or older and you may not post any images or write about pornography, graphic gore, graphic sex, racism, etc. ( to read the full list of what cannot be described, see "18. objectable content" ). this also implies that our forum is rated pg-13. s.o.w.k is a free-for-all roleplay ( along with a freestyle application! ). this means there is no word count, you can post one hundred words or you can post one thousand. all we ask is that you have proper grammar ( this means no "chat speak" while in character ) and that you be respectful of other roleplayers. that is, if someone posts seven hundred words, do not reply with only two hundred or three hundred. please try to post around the same literacy level as that of your roleplay partner unless they do not mind. liquid time is okay. in case you don't know what this is, liquid time is when you have one character in more than one thread. you do not have to do it, however, if you do please make sure you have a timeline ( whether in a thread or in your head ) on the order of which event came first in your character's life. we do allow swearing. we don't mind the use of a few harsher swear words, but please do not abuse it. this does not mean you may use any derogatory term, whether to another member or not. be respectful to the site. that is, no spamming or flamming anywhere ( forum and chat box alike ). you also need to respect the members in it, guests, registered users, and staff. be active and do not plagiarize ( posts, images, or codes ). tying into no "chat speak" in character, we don't mind it in the chat box, but please keep it to a minimum. be realistic. while s.o.w.k is set in a fictional city, the world should be realistic. this means you may not create rainbow dogs, cats with three tails, etc ( unusual eye colors are okay however ). remember, while it is your character, you should also play to your character's species. birds may escape dogs, but they would never win in a fight ( that is, unless it's something like an ostrich against a chihuahua, but we do not allow ostriches here anyway ). please no pregnant characters upon joining. we don't mind if your character gets pregnant, but we just don't want people joining and then having to post in the classified board for some new baby characters that members may not want or have the time to dedicate roleplaying time to them. no god-modeling, auto-hitting, or powerplay. in order to make the roleplay enjoyable for everyone, we ask that you do not do the aforementioned. if you are not sure what these are: god-modeling: having your character be a god, being god-like, or having god-like powers do not kill any character without the roleplayer's permission. we love to see a character's life being played out, but please make sure the character's owner has given permission to do so. forum avatars can be 150x250 and chat box avatars are 45x45. most of the time proboards will automatically resize your avatar if it is not the same size. however, in order to avoid those little exceptions, please crop your image to the correct size anyway. signatures may be no larger than 550px in width. avoid controversial conversations ( in the chat box and on the forum ). while i'm sure most of us can handle a mature debate, just to be sure, we'd rather avoid the topic all together. conversations such as these would include talking about religion, drugs, homosexuality, abortion, etc. do not advertise in the chat box simply to advertise. we don't mind if you share your forum for opinions about the layout, plot, etc. but do not post your forum simply to get new members. |
